Kendall Mountain Recreation Area The Kendall Mountain Recreation Area is a perfect spot for inexpensive, family fun. At the new Kendall Mountain Ski Area, your family can enjoy a variety of downhill adventures including sledding, skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. Open Fridays-Sundays and holidays, a full day will only cost you $6.00 per adult, $3.00 for kids 7 and older. Sharpen up those blades and try out the newly-improved town ice rink. Skating is free and ice skate rentals are available at the Visitors Center.
Snowmobiling in Silverton Enjoy snowmobiling on some of the best snow in the country. Many miles of open terrain with hills and numerous benches make Silverton a very popular area with snowmobilers. Snowmobile activity is concentrated on the Molas Divide area. Nearly 150 miles of track are maintained by the Silverton Snowmobile Club, with easy access from town or US 550. Old Tyme Holiday Celebrations Silverton pulls out all the stops during the month of December with an old tyme celebration. There are Holiday Bazaars with locally-made arts and crafts, baked goods and more. The Yule Log Festival is a traditional event culminating in a bonfire, caroling and wassail. Then there's the Town Tree Decorating Party, which is an event for the children complete with hot chocolate and tree decorating with the children's handmade ornaments and gathering for Christmas carols. Holiday Shopping Night offers extended shopping hours in the special Victorian atmosphere not possible in malls and discount stores. Our Festival of Trees, featuring the Silverton Brass Band, is a gathering and exhibit of trees decorated with unique themes. The are also Ice Skating Parties throughout the month. No holiday celebration would be complete without a visit from St. Nick, and on Christmas Eve he can be found at the Town Tree, distributing goodies to all the children.
